Dr. Sidney Shapiro is an Assistant Professor of Business Analytics at the University of Lethbridge's Dhillon School of Business, an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Computer Science, and a 2026/2027 Dhillon Rising Scholar. His research sits at the intersection of applied AI and analytics, responsible digital transformation, social innovation and entrepreneurship, and community and organizational impact.

Sidney's research program examines how AI, analytics, and emerging technologies reshape organizations, communities, and entrepreneurial ecosystems. He studies responsible AI adoption, analytics governance, community analytics, nonprofit and municipal innovation, SME digital transformation, teaching cases, program evaluation, and applied decision-making in real institutional settings. Current work includes the Research Connector Hub for Southern Alberta and Local TCV, a private local-AI tool for drafting Tri-Agency thematic CVs. His work includes peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, teaching cases, methodological guides, student research projects, and applied partnerships with businesses, public-sector organizations, nonprofits, and community partners.

As a public speaker and media commentator, Sidney translates research into accessible guidance for leaders, educators, entrepreneurs, and community organizations. He contributes to public technology education as a Google Developer Group Organizer, serves on the Sir Alexander Galt Museum & Archives Board of Directors, chairs the AIRI Foundation board, and sits on the Editorial Advisory Board of the Journal of Responsible Management Education.
