Artificial Intelligence for the Potato Industry — Growers, Industry & Partners
A 3-Hour Training Session for Growers, Industry & Support Organizations
Artificial Intelligence is transforming industries across the globe, and agriculture is no exception. This 3-hour session is designed for the potato industry in South Alberta: mainly growers, people from the potato industry, and industry support organizations, with a mix of those interested from University, College, and Research Station. We'll explore how AI can support operations from field management to business optimization.
Whether you're managing crop yields, optimizing irrigation, analyzing market trends, supporting growers, or streamlining administrative tasks, AI offers powerful tools to work smarter, reduce costs, and increase productivity while maintaining the quality standards that define Alberta's potato industry.
From industry initiatives (e.g. Presia Ag Insights, Scale AI Precision Harvest) to research and CBC/Global stories on ag tech in Alberta and Canada—the Resources page has a curated list of Potato + Data projects and Media & coverage. No endorsement implied; we’re sharing what’s out there so you can explore.
Before you come, it helps to think of: one decision you revisit often; one report that always takes too long; and one place you already collect data (e.g. field notes, storage logs, grading records). We’ll refer to these as we go through where AI can help.
If you have a laptop or tablet, we’ll try a prompt together during the session.
Event date: March 2026 (exact date TBC).
